Every month, The Grove Project has made the commitment to conduct water quality monitoring tests at a local body of water here in South Florida, Little Lake Worth Lagoon. As a proud EarthEcho International Water Challenge Ambassador, we are excited to share July 2019's results below:
Air Temperature: 90°F
Water Temperature: 97°F
pH Level: 9
Turbidity: 40 JTU
Dissolved Oxygen: 4 ppm
Percent Saturation of Oxygen: 59%
Detailed Explanation:
Today was a hot, July summer day, which explains the hot air temperature and the extra hot water temperature (the highest water temperature logged to date). The high water temperature is also likely the reason that the percent saturation of oxygen is so high, at a very large 59%. The turbidity, or the clarity of the water, remains at 40 JTU. The pH level has risen slightly since the May and June recordings, and it is something to keep in eye on in the months ahead. All in all, the water quality is good, something expected in an area surrounded by mangroves, the world's natural water monitors.
