EarthEcho's Youth Leadership Summit in Washington DC

This weekend, our founder, Nicolas Lama, was invited to our nation's capital Washington DC to attend EarthEcho International's annual Youth Leadership Summit!

As an EarthEcho Water Challenge Ambassador, Nicolas has led The Grove Project in actively monitoring a local body of water, Lake Worth Lagoon, every month and educating others on the importance of water quality monitoring.

In DC, Nicolas had the opportunity to meet EarthEcho's executive team led by world famous conservationist Philippe Cousteau, as well as interact and network with many other young environmental activists from across the country and world. Activities at the summit ranged from hearing environmental justice speakers present their research to participating in professional development training.

Additionally, with the resources and mentorship of EarthEcho International and Xylem Watermark, Nicolas had the chance to extensively plan The Grove Project's upcoming World Water Monitoring Day event that will take place in September. Stay tuned for more information about this event soon!

About the Youth Leadership Summit, Nicolas said: "Thank you so much to EarthEcho for flying me out to DC and putting together such an incredible event. It was truly great to meet so many other young passionate environmental activists and create of a network of people and mentors who care about saving our planet!"

Special thanks to Mia DeMezza (EarthEcho Executive Director), Sean Russell (EarthEcho Water Challenge Manager), Stacey Rafalowski (EarthEcho Programs Manager) and Katelyn Higgins (Youth Leadership Summit Coordinator) for a great experience!
