Last weekend, on Saturday October 26, a group of high school volunteers organized by The Grove Project went out to help at MANG Gear’s nursery out in West Palm Beach.
While there, volunteers heard a brief lecture about the environmental importance of mangrove ecosystems in South Florida and beyond.
Then, volunteers transitioned into the opportunity of getting hands-on work with MANG‘s nursery mangrove restoration project. Tasks included sorting rooted propagules, filling up buckets of topsoil, planting rooted propagules into individual pots, and transporting the plants into MANG’s water troughs in the nursery. Together, volunteers planted over 400 rooted propagules plants, helping make a huge contribution in the first step in restoring South Florida’s mangrove ecosystems.
Thank you to our founder Nicolas Lama for coordinating this event, as well as everyone at MANG for your incredible guidance and help. For more information about MANG Gear and their incredible “Buy One. Plant One.“ initiative, visit their website: https://www.manggear.com/
Congratulations on your beautiful work. I live here in Brazil and I also work voluntarily planting mangroves. I was very happy to see you all young people doing this incredible job. May God bless you all, congratulations.
